ਸਿੱਖ ਸਿਆਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੀ ਅਹਿਮ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ 15 ਨਵੰਬਰ 1920 ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਬਣੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਗਰੋਂ 1925 ਦੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਐਕਟ ਹੇਠ ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਹਿਲੀਆਂ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ 1926 ਵਿਚ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਨ। ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੀ ਕਾਇਮੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀਆਂ ਦੇਣੀਆਂ ਪਈਆਂ, ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਜੇਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਸ ਲਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਰ-ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਹੋਏ। ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਈ 1920 ਤੋਂ ਮਾਰਚ 1921 ਤਕ, ਦੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਖੋਜ ਸਕਾਲਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੌਲਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਸ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦਾ ਰੋਜ਼ਨਾਮਚਾ, ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਿਆਨ, ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਰਕਾਬਗੰਜ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦਲ ਲਈ ਅਪੀਲ, ਇਸ ਜਥੇ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ, ਨਾਨਕਾਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਾਕੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਡਿੱਠੇ ਹਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦਰਜਨਾਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵੀ ਰੂਬਰੂ ਇਸ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
